2020 has been a whirlwind of virtual events, innovative systems, and new positions to sustain the future of the Foundation. This year, we have re-evaluated transparency, new efficiencies, and honest awareness of practice. We have scrutinized our purpose and articulated goals for the coming years. High functioning nonprofit organizations recalibrate as a daily exercise, but this practice has been especially constructive in 2020.
We recently hired two Medical Advisors, Stephanie Graff, MD, FACP, and Lina Romero, MD, brought on to expand our research initiatives and add depth and experience to breast cancer advocacy. Under Dr. Susan Love’s executive leadership, we’ve partnered with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to map the breast ductal system and partnered with GE to harness the power of artificial intelligence to develop a handheld, self-reading ultrasound for breast cancer screening in underserved populations. With 2021 bringing exciting new developments in research that will change everything, Dr. Susan Love’s plans for retirement have been postponed indefinitely! In her nearly 50-year medical career, she and the Foundation have never been closer to ending this devastating disease.
Our hope for the future of the Foundation, with our high-powered medical team, is to grow our global research footprint with the goal of expanding access to treatment, finding the cause of breast cancer, and ending it for all. As the only foundation working to end breast cancer worldwide, we are excited to share that in 2021 we will announce far-reaching partnerships with research organizations in the United Kingdom, Spain, Mexico, and Uganda.
We need your help this #GivingTuesday to launch us into 2021 with the momentum we have carried through 2020. This will be a groundbreaking year for the Foundation and breast cancer research, and with your help, we will end breast cancer. Every gift you give is a communication of your values, hopes, and future thinking. Give with confidence to the Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, named this year as the Top-Ranked breast cancer research organization in the nation. Join us on December 1 for our most important #GivingTuesday yet.
