For many, summertime is a season of relaxation. The weather is at its prime, kids are out of school, and everyone is ready for a long-awaited vacation. For others, summer is the time to think about enrichment courses and certificate classes that can bring new ideas to their work lives.
At the Foundation, we spend the summer like students in enrichment programs: learning new skills, growing, and advocating. Last month many of us attended the annual conference of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), where we had an important opportunity to listen to, learn from, and connect with breast cancer experts from throughout the world. And we couldn’t be more proud of our medical advisor, Dr. Stephanie Graff, who was awarded Woman Disruptor of the Year for her leadership and recent career advancements in the oncology community.
Later this summer, our senior leadership will participate in Project LEAD, a training program for advocates led by the National Breast Cancer Coalition. The program provides an incredible opportunity for advocates to make important connections as they learn the fundamentals of breast cancer prevention, detection, research, and more.
And, of course, what would summer be without spending time thinking about what the rest of the year holds: World Breast Cancer Research Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium — to name just a few.
